Default Bad day in Southern Oregon

July 3rd a day or so before our annual 100 mile Prospect OHV ride. Bill and Howard leave to get a campsite at Creek. They set up camp and go for a little scouting ride. The only time I
know of that Bill didn't gear up no boots no pads just a windbreaker. If you guys have seen my pics in the past they almost always have Bill on a WR450F and Howard on TTR250 they were riding up hwy230 just a few miles northwest of Crater Lake near Diamond Lake They were making a left hand turn off of the Hwy on to a dirt road when a full sized Ford F250 tried to pass as they were turning. Bill was hit broadside he was life flighted to Bend,OR with broken ankles road rash( broken buttons off his spine?) at least two surgeries later pins and screws, and a steel rod in this lower leg. Howard just did escape he was no.2 in line. The truck was estimated at 70+mph

This is a troubling report. Did they catch the guy in the truck? Me and my family will pray for his recovery.

Best wishes!

Mike

Damn, I hate hearing about that. I hope your friend pulls through OK. F-250 at 70 MPH - he is very lucky to be alive. Gear or no gear, F-250 at any speed is going to take its toll.

Hey Tim, as I was laying in bed with food poisoning or some really bad bug, your post came across the Blackberry, and my heart sank. I am truly sorry for him, his family and everyone that knows him, I for one will be keeping him in my prayers and thoughts for a best recovery possible. And today I just found out that a traveler on a big road bike had a van do a u-turn right in the road in front of the airport as the drag races were going on, he was air lifted to Seattle, Good thoughts for him as well. Peace bro.[&:]

Yes, and it makes others think too.

I promised friends and family I would give bike riding away if I ever had children.
We will see.

Truth is I doubt I could ever give it away.
It's in my blood and I know the risks.

Get well soon "brother" Bill.
