I guess that's why they look aggressive...pretty fat tires on the 17" SM Rims

I like the look of that quite a bot actually, but I would worry about my front rotor if I ran them on rougher stuff than fireroads and light trails
So those really are kenda trackmasters...didn't know they made 17' versions..cool stuff.

I see what you mean about the front, those sm rotors are big, and close to the ground. Hmmm compromises.

Since it has street tires on it, there's no way I'd feel comfortable taking it off-road.

I don't feel like paying out $850 +S/H for a set of dirt tires and rims, so I was wondering if it is possible to put a 140/80-17 Dual Sport tire on the back, like an MT21, and run a smaller "back tire" like a 120/70-17 on the front.

Will there be major problems doing this? It's not to go all-out ***** to the wall off-roading, mind you...just riding some trails and fire roads...is it possible?
Consider the Avon Distanzia for the front. Good tread for dirt/gravel just short of a knobby. A friend uses them on his DRz.

I actually had a pair of those selected and in my basket at BBandit but removed them after seeing an SM with big, honkin knobbies on the front 17...what can I say? weird appeals to me.

Hey FM I just got clarification from LL and they are not Kenda trackmasters. They are Cheng Shin tires. He says he got both the front, back, and a sprocket for under $100 so that was a pretty good deal for some light offroading.

Weird won't be quite the word for it when you try to ride pavement with them any time.

Good luck with weird.

The whole point of getting these dirt tires is for an upcoming trip where I want to do a little "light" off-roading with the WRX.

I still have a KLX250S for on-road duties and more serious off-roading.

After the trip is over, it's back to the street tires
