Default Back tire up front?!

I am going on a camping trip pretty soon. I'll be spending a few days in on the trails with my friends and we're taking the KLX, his TTR, his XT230, and I was thinking I might want to take WR250X with me.

Since it has street tires on it, there's no way I'd feel comfortable taking it off-road.

I don't feel like paying out $850 +S/H for a set of dirt tires and rims, so I was wondering if it is possible to put a 140/80-17 Dual Sport tire on the back, like an MT21, and run a smaller "back tire" like a 120/70-17 on the front.

Will there be major problems doing this? It's not to go all-out ***** to the wall off-roading, mind you...just riding some trails and fire roads...is it possible?

I rode with a guy who had the 250X at Big Bend NP last December. He installed Kenda 270's front and rear for this trip. I was surprised how well he did on this bike and tires down there, and he didn't pussyfoot around either. He and I would get after it at times, and he had good traction and handling manners everywhere we went. On the pavement he would kill my fairly stock KLX250...he had a Power Commander, pipe, airbox mods, etc. I was younger and maybe a tiny bit better off roader, so I could get him on trails and such. However, I saw him go stinking fast on a winding dirt road to the point that he looked like he was on a motord course. So apparently this setup worked well for him. He used some huge 270's front and rear, and at first glance the thing looked like one of those TW200 rigs.

I wasn't able to find Kenda trakmasters but got the other 50%on 50% off road dual sport tires and a couple heavy duty tubes.

It should look funny as hell with 2 rear tires on it so I'll be sure to snap a few pics so you can all laugh at me when I get them installed, hahaha

According to Lincolnlock, over on TT, he's ran 4.30 trakmaster in the front and a 5.30 trakmaster in the rear

I guess that's why they look aggressive...pretty fat tires on the 17" SM Rims

I like the look of that quite a bot actually, but I would worry about my front rotor if I ran them on rougher stuff than fireroads and light trails
