Average motor life of this kind of bike?

Average motor life of this kind of bike?
I know it depends a lot of how you ride, conditions you ride and how you maintain the bike but I'm real curious on a ball park of how long one of these motors can last? The reason I ask is because I really love my bike and ride it all the time. I already have 3200 miles on it and I've only had it for a few months. I ride mostly to work but I do get out in the dirt a little, dirt roads mainly. When the motor does go what do I do? It's not like a 2 stroke where you just rebuild the top end or can you do that and get another life out of it?
Thanks.
Thanks.

There is no reason why a 4 stroke like the one we own will run till the wheels fall off ..... You will be more than tired of it or sell it before you where it out from miles ridden. And if it gets old and slow just re ring it and clean up the valves and keep going. Or do a big bore kit 4 strokes last much longer than 2 strokes you really cannot compare the two ....

If it's anything like the KLR we should get 20,000 with no problems, but again you hit the nail on the head, it depends on how we treat the bike and how we ride. And I don't think of the bike in terms of miles, but rather I want to look back in 15 years and still have a great bike to ride, and if it means installing a new motor, then so be it. And yes it will look almost as clean as it does now, (just thought I would beat anyone to saying that first) LOL
Here is an interesting read, maybe it will shed some light on the subject.

deej,
Which KLR are you speaking of?
My KLR650 has a whole lot more than that. Pehaps I should retire it?
