I can't remember if it was dealt with in previous posts (been awhile since I've read the entire thread) but does the coolant recovery tank need to be relocated at all or does the nose of the tank fit underneath it?

Glad to hear you got your hands on an '09 Bake! Looks like I'll be home just in time to order one of them up

Man that is tempting, and out of all the complaints about the bike, I would say fuel capacity is #1......Good job on the tank. Perhaps one day...after front springs.

The story on the catch bottle is: it can't be used. We just go without, because we've never seen a KLX get so hot it overflowed coolant. Bill has held his 351 wide open for 20 miles, and he's 6'1" and the 351 big bore didn't overheat.

B & B will provide a smaller, plastic catch bottle for those that want to use one anyway. We are leaving it up to the owner to decide where they want to mount it. It could be zip-tied or hose clamped against the frame just below the rear shock reservoir, or another possible location would be between a skidplate and the engine. The original catch bottle is such an odd shape, and our desire to provide a full 1 gallon of additional fuel didn't allow us a location for the bottle.

If we ever see the need for the overflow bottle, we'll use the same smaller replacement.

Another disclosure: say good bye to your helmet lock. I personally think it's so hard to use they are a waste of time. I use that location for a tank mount.

I imagine that the tank will not work on an FI KLX? The FI fuel pump is inside the stock tank.

Is the tank itself pressurized? If so, then no. Ours is a gravity feed straight to a T fitting underneath the stock petcock.

Here's a picture of my 351 and the 1.1 tank, while we were riding in Colorado. I have modified turnsignals, but I'm pretty sure the stock one will fit.

Hummm..i do not think so as it does not "degas" when I open the fill cap.

I added the tank to the website tonight. For the '09's, two new brackets to develop shouldn't take but a couple of days.

don't care about the helmet lock as yes, it is a PITA to use and more often than not, I just bring my helmet with me. with the overflow bottle, do you just reroute the hose from the rad with the other vent/drain hoses underneath or simply plug the remaining hose? I'm not too concerned since I don't plan on beating on it enough to warrant overheating and if you guys couldn't do it with the 351's, I don't think I'll be able to do it stock

Thumbs up

If you ride in hot conditions and do any slow 1st gear (muddy, rocky) stuff I suggest you retain or move your bottle. Mine has had the fan come on several times under really muddy conditions, I don't know if it "needed" the tank but I wouldn't want to cook it and find out it was needed.

Having said that great job on the tanks Bake and Bill
