Right on! They managed to sum up the reasons why I picked the KLX. Affordable, simple, proven design, full size chassis, good aftermarket support, yada yada...
sorry, what was I saying? I got sidetracked looking at the Las Vegas BikeFest photo gallery

i think everyone has said it, and probally the artical too, but i think they all hit they reasons i got the klx over the wr. simple carb design (wont fail or throw falts that will get you stuck for no reason), better aftermarket (when i bought it atleast), and $1000 cheaper, and rides like a true enduro. also, isnt the only tank made for the wr by safari, there **** is like 500 bucks.

Where it was actually superior was in sand and gravely dry river beds. On dirt roads it was a slot car. I kid you not, the bike would rail dirt roads like a rally car compared to knobby clad dirt bikes. I would definitely go with the WR250R, but this guy is an older, very short fellow, so the motard model allowed him to touch the ground. Those tires sizes were two different 17" rear Kenda 270's...wider on back. I would have thought this bike and tire choice for desert off roading would be a joke. It did pretty darned well.
It does look cool, I'll give him that. I would think it would tend to push a lot more in the corners, and would be a lot heavier. I've seen a guy do that with a KLR, fitting rear tires front and back, I think he was using an 18" rim, though. Might be interesting with a christini drive. How badass would that be? Pretty neat, regardless, thanks for posting the pic.

Maybe, but it takes more than power to go fast through the woods on these.

As far as the others, I might agree with the over-priced part, but the KTM's are far from under-performing.
