Anyone up for a challenge?

Anyone up for a challenge?
I have been considering a duel sport bike for a while now, I would love to know what kind of fuel mileage
(best case scenario) one of these 250’s would get if you could take it easy for gas mileage sake.(Just for a test)
say fill her up to the top and ride 75 miles and top her off?
I had just about eliminated the KLX because of the small tank until Todd installed the 3.2-gallon tank on his bike.
And then he put it back into the running.
If it would get close to 60-65 mpg running 55 mph on the road then be able to hit the trails it would eliminate
about all the other bikes I have been considering.
I have been considering a KLR but about the average it seems to get is 50 mpg,
And I really would like a lighter bike for the trails.

RE: Anyone up for a challenge?
My mileage hasn't suffered too badly with the Muzzy pipe... but it's definitely lower than stock. I got around 65 stock and 55 on the simiilar route... but i was riding faster the second time.

I am getting a consistent 58.5 mpg on a average can easily go 80- 90 miles before hitting reserve. the only thing i have done is change the gearing 13/45. Very happy with my choice on getting this bike.

RE: Anyone up for a challenge?
I got close to 58 again today with a combination of high speed interstate, two lane highway, gravel roads, and the OHV park including some time spent wallowing through the rocky woods. With the IMS tank, that's as much range as my KLR650 had.
Now we need to get serious about a new seat. The stocker is killing my big behind after 50 miles or so. I'm going to try to pick up a used seat pan off eBay and send it to Corbin to have them make a seat as close to their flat KLR650 seat as possible. I loved the one I had on mine.
