Default Anyone mount a Cyclops Rally Light or Baja Designs 8" La Paz?

Always struggling with the need for more light.
Been thinking about trying a rally style headlight, like the above named lights.
Love the look, but not sure what I'd have to make to mount either light.
The Cyclops is DOT legal, Baja's is not. But the Baja 100W version would be nice for spotting moose on my way home.
The Cyclops is also quite a bit more expensive, but would be plug and play as far as bulbs and switches are concerned. The Baja might require some head scratching to wire up the hi/lo switch to be on/off, but should be doable.
If anyone has done this, to this or another bike, I'd love to hear about it and what it took to get it done. Thanks

The problem isn't the current headlamp, you can put halogen bulbs that burn 100/130w. The issue is the charging system can't handle that much pull and you will burn out the battery.

Somebody posted a while back about using 100/130w bulb and reported no issues.

That would maybe max the stator out though, and then I would have to give up my heated grips... not happening :-P

I think Redpillar had a rally light on his for awhile too. You might find something about that here on KF .
The pic i posted was in the KLX thread on ADV a while ago.

I recently put in 35watt hid
super bright and the same nice square pattern in the street
I was afraid I would loose that
and uses no more power then stock bulb I tested the battery before and after
im used to hid's slightly draining the battery at idle so was pleased it didnt

Think the hid was $55 from DDM tuning picked up locally though
I hear there shipping is a little expensive
but lifetime warranty on bulb, wiring, and ballast

Do the bulbs themselves determine the HID brightness and not the ballast itself? I feel if I go with a 5000k or lower I will be safe in terms of not getting pulled over.

what ddm told me is the bulbs can use any ballast, they sell 35 and 55 watt
lets say you use 5000k which I like to use
with the 35 watt ballast its the correct color
but a 55wat ballast makes the 5000K look like 4500K
why, I have no idea
and over time the bulbs will go slightly lower in color too

I think someone told me 4500K is the ideal color to use if you want to keep stock type colors
but I figure if they do lower in color over time then 5000K is a good choice

lower the K more yellow you get
higher the K more blue/purple

Ive used 3000K yellow look, yellow on road
Ive used 4500K looks good
I now use 5000K looking at headlight looks super white, on road see slight hint of yellow I love how it looks
My friends used 6000K looking at lights have a tiny blue tint, on the road pure white color
to me its a little harsh on my eyes but im more sensitive to bright lights

I have 55watt on my truck, honestly cant tell the difference from 35watt on my bikes
I also use the high/low bulb they sell has a solenoid on the glass angles it up for high beam, drops it down for low beam. Really slick

If you just get low beam, when you activate high beam it will turn off the bulb
so if you want that for trail riding when you dont really need lights you could do that

but I use high beam on street during day to get more attention if my beam is more towards drivers faces

Best way not to get pulled over, triple check the height of the beam at night once installed
make sure to run it lower then normal
this way you dont blind anyone and since they put out like 10x more light you still see way farther and will light up reflectors super far away

Don't know if OP runs heated gear/grips but there's a lot of good LED driving light options out there now. I'm looking at some ADVMonster's to replace my homebrewed leds.
