Default For anyone looking to replace clutch

I just put the EBC Dirt Racer series clutch kit in da big tree-fiddy.. Cost $70 shipped and came with springs that are a little stiffer than stock. Also the friction pads have a lot more material on them. Was a pretty easy install, hardest part was getting the dam clutch nut off.

The manual said it takes 58 ftlbs of torque.. That thing had to have been on there with over 100. I had my buddy holding the crankshaft with a big breaker, and I was on the rear brake and wrenching on the clutch nut.. That thing took a massive amount of force to break free.. Anyways..
All went back in without a hitch. Torqued the clutch nut to 65lbs!

Took the bike around the backyard today and wow.. What an improvement. The engagement is very tight and crisp, feels like a whole new bike almost.

Going for a long forest ride tomorrow so I'll put it to the test I'll report back to base - but from what I've felt today this makes a nice feel on the bike.

Sounds like the guy that put the clutch nut on is the same guy putting the counter-shaft sprockets on at Kawi. Price doesn't sound bad. Do you have the part number? Was it listed for the KLX250s? Just for future reference.

Dan888 - the package had this number on the sticker "TR-268242" and in the top right said DRC-212.

It was listed for 06-09 KLX250S and 97-07 KLX300R

redpillar - it started slipping under heavy load - like going up a tall hill in 4th gear while being heavy on the throttle.

How many miles/abuse did it stand up too before it started slipping just out of curiosity?

ryathis - I really have no accurate measure as my speedo cable gear down on the wheel broke internally a long time ago. I really can't even guestimate. I've had the bike since early 08, got it with 250 miles on the ticker. It stopped working somewhere around 900 miles. I've ridden the crap out of it since then. The 351 has been on it since March 09. So, it had some miles

It actually lasted a lot longer than I thought it would.
