Anyone improved their seat yet?
Oh man, my butt is killing me. Did about 300kms (200mi) yesterday, and I've decided that the seat needs to be changed.
BMWHD, I saw a thread where you were thinking about getting another seat pan and fabbing up a new seat?
Any progress on that?
I was thinking about taking off the stock seat cover, adding some more foam on the sides and top, and re-covering it.
I just haven't decided what is the best way to re-cover.
Buy a CEET cover (are they universal)? Make one? I could probably find suitable upholstery material, but could I sew it? My wife's sewing machine probably won't cut it.
I think part of the problem with the stocker is the grippiness - I think it adds to the discomfort.

RE: Anyone improved their seat yet?
Nahh, I don't sit in my seat long enough to requie another seat. I will ride 300 miles in one day, but I'm fine with that due to the fact that its mostly off road and I am always moving back, forward. I am always standing, etc... so much so that I dont sit on the seat long enough to notice.

When I first bought the bike I would get saddle sore within an hour, but it doesn't bother me as much anymore. Maybe I've gotten used to it. I did cover my seat with a KLX300 Ceet cover, but I didn't do anything with the foam. I just wanted a black seat instead of the black and green.

I did get a major upgrade on the seat:
Sorry, couldn't resist. Actually, the KLX is getting mightly little use of late. I do still want to get some kind of improved seat. It's just fallen way back on the priority list.

I, like Todd, also purchased another motorcycle, a VTX, the horror[:-]. I have also been neglecting my poor little fun KLX. It punished me by braking its chain under its mad torque because it was releasing its frustration going uphill and it almost sent me flying. Todd will soon realize that riding on the streets gets boring after a while and will take the KLX back out in the dirt for some adventuring!! I had a blast the other day on my KLX, what a hoot.
