I think the 250 is exactly what I'm looking for: easy, cheap, fun, versatile, and good on gas. Having had all the hot stuff, I'm looking to relax and enjoy. My wife has a Versys 650. Awesome bike. I'm leaning towards that and a KLX250, and I'm good. You don't have to have the high-powered stuff to have fun. Then, again, I wouldn't trade the experience of them for anything. Cool stuff!

I'm thinking about one. I just sold my DRZ, as the seat was like a 2x4, I even purchased an aftermarket SDC seat and it still didn't help. It was a tad too tall for me as well at 5'11". I looking at the new 09 KLX250s, as well as the new Yamaha XT250.

Before anyone buys a new (2009) KLX250S I believe you owe it to yourself to check-out-/ride the new (2008) FI Yamaha WR250R. From all I can gather it makes 30.7 HP at the crank which should easily equate to 24-25 RWHP. Yes it costs $1000 more, but it is FI, has a far better suspension, weight 2lbs. less, and is of much sturdier overall construction. If you do all of the free mods, carb work, and add a good after market exhaust system to the KLX250S your going to spend around $1000--$1200 and end up with approximately22 RWHP. You'll need to spend another$700 to install a 300 or 331 kit and you still only end up with aroundRWHP. Food for thought.

Where's IG?
What does that stand for anyway? Is it Iowa Guy or I'm Gay?
Well anyhow, he's been saying that he's getting an 09 KLX but I don't know what to believe when it comes to that flake.

I'm familiar. A few problems: 1) It's not a Kawi; 2) It's notably more money. That $1000-1200 is a 20+% increase in cost; 3) Neither bike is fast, so I'm not sure the extra money is worth it for the extra "performance;" 4) Depending on the power character/delivery, as well as the actual power at the rear wheel, the difference in powerbetween the two may not mean much. We just don't know yet (I suspect it won't be what folks think/want/hope it will be.); 5) I'm trying to get away from the comparative thing. That's how I've spent so much money over the years. I always have to get that little bit extra. It's cost me a bundle.
Having said all that...Yeh, I'm waiting to see.
