Just throwing this out there, but what are the chances of getting some form of sponsorship from the site? It could be a "KawasakiForums.com" group that does the enduro. People from all over could be in the group regardless of nationality.

Personally I don't have any special group I'm affiliated with. My main obstacle would be coming up with the money.

That's a little over $8000 USD.
If I understood correctly the idea is to raise the money through donations....which is about the only way I'd be able to do the trip. And would I love to do this!

But...*4* kids, 2 dogs, *5* cats, 2 rabbits, one very irritated wife at the very idea. ;-)

If'n I don't go (and more than likely I won't - might wait until son #2 is 16 and has his license) I'd be in to help sponsor a forum member. Can't offer a lot, but every little bit helps.

Count me out also. I definitely can not afford it. Besides that, once I rode through a heard of women doing an A.S.P.C.A. walk, and that scared the crap out of me. Those poodles freek me the Hell out!!!

I could go for this and would have a blast I think. Now to see if I can get the vacation time....Need to check with SWMBO, but think this is more do-able in 2010 for me. :-)

Honestly, i havent ridden enough in the US, to spend that much to go to africa... and im with FM... those lions would always be in the back of my head.... Those monkeys on your south america trip were crazy enough. There is plenty riding in the US that ill do before i go over to africa. Looks like a great time though.

I wouldn't be worried about the preditors. It's the teritorial critters i'd worry about - Rhino and hippos will go after anything but the preditors tend to shy away from noise. I'm sure the route isn't going to be that risky.

I was working in my big rice field at home clearing some downed brush and kept hearing this awefully loud noise of brush and trees being trampled across the road. Walked over and was surprised to see 6 elephants having a field day eating and trashing the ecualyptis. Not a normal thing in my part of thailand to find elephants! Wish I had my camera with me that day.

I don't go anywhere where these dangerous animals unless I'm aloud to carry arms. Maybe that's just being smart, maybe its paranoid, maybe its American redneckism.....call me crazy, but I like having the ability to defend myself.

It doesn't even have to be a gun. With the technological advancements of today a taser brand taser and some bear pepper spray is good enough. I prefer a gun, but I'll take those. Cuz sometimes a charging animal can't be stopped by a bullet in a split second and thats all it takes to kill you, but a taser overrides the muscles and stops'm dead in there tracks. And if bullets through a grizzly's heart wont stop them but 20% pepper spray will, you know thats nasty stuff.

I'd honestly worry about catching malaria than getting eaten by a lion. Lions don't live everywhere in Africa. It's a whole continent not a country!
