Ferry leaves from Portland, Maine ... seems to be about $150 with the bike ... perhaps some locals will chime in with discounts.

Just for clarification the ferry in portland gets you to yarmouth, nova scotia. Its another 425 miles to the ferry in north sydney .

How long do you figure it'll take you to get from DC to Portland?

Perhaps KLXrelic can confirm this also...one ferry trip is like 12-hours the other considerably shorter...something you may want to keep in mind if you are the type to get sea-sick...lol

FYI...Just looked up the marine atlantic ferries nd the prices for a motorcycle are $42 to port aux basques (one-way short route) and about $84 to argentia (one-way long route)

Its been a while but that sounds about right. I was thinking 6 hours for the one to port aux basques. and 14 for the one to argentia. Again this will be on marine atlantics website.

That's the part I'm not getting. Washington DC isn't anywhere near Portland, Maine, it's probably close to 10 hours in a car.
