in cali, you best bet is a plated ktm. exc450 if you can find it plated, if you can handle a little more weight, go with a 690, that things a beast.

Anyone see the dirt rider review of the TE250? They liked a few things about it but said starting it was a bitch and that it;s powerband was basically nonexistant. But then they said that it has 34hp. which to me sounds amazing.. so who knows. I bet the 310 puts out .. near 40 hp? Sweeeet! shame about the gearing though.

Wow... That is big power in my book.

I remember them talking trash about it too... I'm cautious when a writer goes to far to either extreme... I'm all for a good or bad report, but I remember that one being REALLY BAD. So I dismissed it.

I am trying to find it or a TE310 review but they seem scarce.
$8K is getting kinda steep too.

We already own the best bang for the buck with our KLX250S.
Then the Yamaha version
Then the Husky

The Honda seems kind weak at 230cc... uh are they paying attention?
Suzuki 400 is attractive power wise but the 5 speed and weight, they need to do a little catching up...

Dang... I am just rambling on with out a point here... I'll stop.

If you start with a new klx, you will have close to that in it and still only have about half the bike the Husky is.

Just looked at the Hussaberg FE390 on their site. Sexy lookin MF. Dealers are sparse, and a couple of the features made me say hmmmm Plastic subframe? Electric start only? Price tag too $9000

I wouldn't worry about the plastic subframe.
They are built to with stand serious abuse.

I think the Bergs are right at the pointy end of dirt bike development.
That may be a risk as technology usually takes a bit of time to get right.

And plus, the new Bergs are straight out bike **** IMHO.

+1 on the bike ****.

So many fun toys out there to spend moneu on.. I like the motor size, I'd like something with the power of my Z400 ATV and minus about 100 lbs. Yeeehaaa

but a seat height of 39" ... holy cow, I'm 6'1' and I'm gonna need a ladder.
I think the KLX and the F800GS are about around the 36"...

KLX = 280 lbs and 18hp = need more hp
F800GS = 430 lbs and 85hp = need less weight

I want 230 lbs with about 30hp and street legal

FE310 gets the Boiiiinnngggg factor going too...
It's only money
Wait... who said that!
