Ok, Here you go....this is the prototype that I will use at my Land Based Test Site (LBTS) in Brookesville (CroomMotorcycle Area http://www.floridatrailriders.org/articles/croom.htm)tomorrow. It features a conveniently located mouthpiece in the painter's mask where my favorite energy drink will be supplied from the Camelback. It will be hot as hell but in Florida we can't even put our gloves on without breaking a sweat.

BTW, what is the secret to posting more than 1 photo per message?

HawaiiRider, thanks for the tip! I actually was thinking about an oxygen boost like the atheletes use to get a leg up in the middle of the race! After the first 20 minutes, which is usually a lap, I am feeling pretty light headed in the 90 degree heat.

Below is another photo:

The mouthpiece needed to be moved to the side instead of the front so it could be expelled when not in use.

Deej, In the racing that I do there is no way to avoid the dust and still compete. Going faster is the best thing but finding a place to pass can put you on some rider's tail for a few minutes until there is an alternate path thru the woods or there is an open straight-away. Going even faster as the "A" riders do puts you in the position of lapping slower riders. There is a good video of a race I did at: http://www.jonathanbelle.com/Index.htm 5/22 HS #12 Take a look at it...

This reminds me of the SARS scare in China. You need to drink monster... NOT RIP IT! I heard its called that cause it will rip you a new ____________ after 1 can.

Will Shoe, good advice on the Rip it. I was in Sam's the other day and was looking at Red Bull and Monster and did not have any experience with either one so I postponed my purchase. Later that day I was in a Dollar General to get some Rain-X and I saw the Rip It and looked to see if it had the same vitamins and it was similar so I tried it. Before I go tomorrow I am going to get some Monster...I see the decals on a lot of bikes where I ride. Thanks

What follows was sent privately to CaptGeorge33, but I thought that some of you may have an interest in how someone else does it.

Hey there George,
Might sound a bit unorthodox, but I use a modular full face 'hat', and it works well for me in the dust for the past two + years.
I used to use the typical open face with goggles and always wore a bandana up and over my nose, it was held in place by my goggles and tied to my neck. It got to be a pain inserting the water from my CamelBack through the bandana when I wanted to take insome water. It was also a bit messy when I forgot that I shouldn't spit into my open face 'hat'. [:@]
I leave the face shield closed, 'cept when I make it to the front of the pack, and all vents are always open for maximum air circulation. I also like the quietness that the 'hat' has when I'm out with the 2 cycle boys and on the open road with the high speed traffic!
Yep, the face shield catches the magnetic dust, but I use PLEDGE GRAB-IT's,
www.grab-itsolutions.com , to keep it clean even while I'm riding. It just takes one occasional swipe, while I'm still under way, and you're good to go!
Their product is a magneticly chargedclothand they continue to work no matter how dirty they get!!
When I get back to my motor home, I'll take the 120# air pressure hose to clean out all of the vents in my helmet. Then blow all the dust off of me, my gear, and the bike.

Update from my practice run at Croom: The painter's mask with the Camelbak mouthpiece out of the side worked as far as hydration was concerned but there was not enough dust to prove if the seal of the mask was sufficient to protect from dust inhalation. Breathability was good and the extra heat from the mask was not noticable. The Monster drink tasted good and seemed to produce the desired energy levels as well as energy recovery after the ride.

Thanks for the help!

George in Florida
