Any part numbers for KLX Mods?
Boys need your expert assistance again. If possible do any of you have part numbers for the Mods for a 2006 KLX250s?
Bought so far:
Renthal 13 tooth front sprocket
FMF Q slip on
Need:
Dynojet kit—I’ve been reading, probably too much and too many choices and variances. Some say to drill some say a spring etc. Does anyone have a fail-safe part number I can use? I prefer not to drill if possible. Dynojet part numbers 2152 or 2206???
Air box mods? Not sure what to do here? Snorkel? Remove top, Air Cleaner K&N, You see too many choices. Anybody a simple air box proven method? For use with the Exhaust/and Jet Mods combo?
Did I miss anything else???
Thanks!!! In advance for any help

Hey Stashu;
There are a lot of 'proven' mods. A lot of variance that seems to work. That makes your decisions kind of tough, and kind of easy. You have room to work and there doesn't seem to be just one way to make it work. Many paths. What kind of riding will you be doing, and at what elevations?
Nice choice on a 2006
Mine has a 2206 DJ kit, air box lid off. Mostly trail riding. Don't be afraid of the drill. If your thinking of the slider, and if you drill a hole, it can be filled back in with a little epoxy if you decide to go back. The 2206 needle is more aggressive than the others from what I've heard (its designed for the klx300), which I like for dirt riding and the hills and crud we need to bump over. I followed other's advise here, then needed to find the jetting that fit the bike and riding. I'm running 124 DJ main jet, needle clipped 2 down from top, stock 35 pilot jet --- others have larger main jets like 128 to 130, clip on 3 down, with 38 or 40 pilot. You may be lucky and get it right the first time, but don't count on it.
I think the stock air filter is just fine, and rotate between the stock and a TwinAir so I can take the dirty one out for cleaning...but put the other clean one back in right away. Clean the dirty one and put in a zip lock for the next go around.
What do you want to do with it?

Yeah, on drilling that slide hole, even if you were to go back to pure stock, the drilled slide would still provide better throttle response. Can't think of any situation where you wouldn't want that. Go with the 2206 kit. It works great with the stock bore and just minor mods or with the full house 351.

Thanks for you info!!
What will I do with the bike?
80% Road 20% dirt, no mud
I want a bike that is fun on the road but not too loud, this is why I went with the FMF Q slip-on, and at the same time when I go off road I can "get on it" so to say and have the power needed to play,, then back to the road again. Basically a sleeper on the road and a demon on the dirt.
PS-no racing, high jumping etc, just nice acceleration when I need it.
Possible?? :-)
Have:
13 tooth sprocket
FMF Q core
2206 Dynojet----to be ordered--I do not see Dennis Kirk having it?
What's left?
Airbox--again still not sure what to do?
Thanks!!

Quote "Mine has a 2206 DJ kit"
Went to my dealer to order a DJ2206 kit. His parts catalog is Parts Unlimited and shows it as a MOOSE jet kit. He said DynoJet makes Moose Jet kits.
I called DJ and YES they do make Moose jet kits and are the same parts and quality BUT there may be less parts included in the Moose kit than the DJ kit.
The DJ tech this is the only difference between the kits he knows about.
Comments?
PS I ride average of 722 Ft above sea level.
Also ordered a KDX 200 snorkle.
This is what I have to date
FMF Q slip on
13 tooth front sprocket
Jet kit on order----722 Above sea level--any tips on jetting from those who ride at this level or close to it?
KDX200 Snorkle
Miss anything?
Thanks "Again" :-)

Pulled 2006 KLX250s Carb, not bad as all :-)
2006 KLX 250s
Pulled the Carb the other day, not bad but as another said "TAKE your Time" worked well. I took MANY, MANY pictures as I went to be sure it goes back together properly especially the routing of the vents and throttle cables threads count. I now have the carb sitting on my bench awaiting the Jet kit, which should be in today. Still looking for a .018 Drill, to drill out choke jet but no great hurry as I'm not going to put the carb back on until March 2012 or so.
Anybody here live in CNY??? And have a 2006 KLX 250s. I would like to hear from you on how you choose your jets or suggestions with a FMF Slip-on Q4; I'm at an average of 722 Ft. above Sea level.
Granted--I may have to rejet again after the 1st time, but if I can have a good starting point I may not have to.
Thanks again!!!
Have:
FMF Q Slip on
Jet Kit---in Today 11/4/11
13 tooth front sprocket
KDX 200 Snorkel--in today 11/4/2011
Anything else?
