I have no interest in a KLX450 unless it comes as a street legal machine since in my state, Washington, you cannot dual sport a dirt bike any more.If it is street legal, then yes, for sure.
As for the KLR650-I don't think it really needs a 6-speed trans.My 2004 cruises at 60-70 with no problem and gets 54-58 mpg to boot. I think better brakes and a doohicky upgrade would be more important.The 650 engine, while no powerhouse, makes okay power and is pretty tractable as it is.Most 650 thumpers don't have six speeds, but a smaller bike, like the DRZ400S, from all the comments I hear from owners, would really benefit from the extra gear.
