Default Another Vapor Install

I got around to installing my Vapor today. Went to Home Depot and picked up some 1/8" right angle aluminum and flat. I manufactured a mount for the Vapor that mounted with bolts through the stock instrument cluster mounting holes.

I also got the Vapor dashboard, which included a bracket which I put to use too.

Also utilized the female plug andfabricated a wiring harness to go to the Vapor and dummy lights using little spade terminals, heat shrink tubing and butt splices (no crimps, soldered everything). I put some electrical tape around the terminals (not pictured) to help hold them in place (they were snug to begin with)

The fit turned out real well, its high set and there's no interference with the key. I've have yet to install the speedo (I'll probably hook up a drill to rack up the miles to match actual mileage) and the H2O temp sensor. I'll do that tomorrow.

Brian (Nobrakes), do you still have that photo of how you mounted the speedo cable and sensor?

Excellent job on your mount - that's real clean!

It's hard to take a good photo of it, here are a few from various angles:

How do you plan on rigging the drill? Will you tape a magnet to a cutting wheel or something similar? I'm assuming that you know this is not a mechanical speedo cable, right? Seems like a long time to be running a drill motor[8D]

Great job on the mount...it's the cleanest one I've seen so far!

I set up a drill press with a small circular saw blade on if (the blade has a cover on it) and placed the magnet on the blade. Underneath I clamped the sensor which was hooked up to the vapor mounted on the bike.

Wow 90mph in my garage. Since I still have less than 100miles on the bike, it didn't take very long to rack up the appropriate number of miles.

He he, I had mine over 250 MPH. But then again, I had to go 3200 miles and it took all night, boy was I tired.

Which vapor kit you ordered exactly? Also, what are the indicator lights available with the Indicator Dashboard?

Nice job!!!

I ordered it directly from http://www.trailtech.net/index.html

Qty Name SKU Each Subtotal
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Vapor Kit: Kawasaki KLX300 '95-07 KX '95-0375-501 $119.95 $119.95
1 Vapor Indicator Dashboard 022-PDA $39.95 $39.95
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subtotal $159.90
Shipping: UPS Ground $7.58
Tax Total $0.00
Grand Total $167.48

The dashboard came withfour lights and four lenses that I used:

Blue headlamp - highbeam
Red "R" - I'm using it for the temp light
Green "N" - Neutral
Green double opposing arrows - turn signal indicator

...and four that I'm not using:

Green headlamp
Red oil can
Green arrow (Qty: 2)

I'm doubled up on the water temperature stuff since the Vapor has indicators for that built in. Maybe if I could figure out how to implement a oil pressure switch....

Love the dashboard! They didn't show that available when I bought mine. I am going to order mine right after I hit submit. That thing is sweet, I was worried I wasn't gonna pass my texas safety inspection cuz I am missing high beam indicator. Thanks for sharing.
