Default Anniversary

"Honey when is our anniversary?" "Um not sure but did you realize that it was exactly two years ago that I first saw a picture on the Internet of the KLX?" And she says "hmmmm that's nice."

Yep I can still remember the day I ordered it, the shop said that it would probably be 3-4 weeks before the first ones would be showing up and told me I had the first one coming in. And true to thier word, a couple of days before Thanksgiving I got the call. I told them I would be there early in the morning. I got there so early that they were still taking the crate apart. Wow two years, a few important mods, a couple of warranty items, and 6600 miles. I will never get rid of this bike. I'm taking it to the grave. Yeeeee Haaaaa!!!!!

Here you go, I dug up a couple of my first posts. I'm sure you guys feel the same way huh?

November 21st
Greetings again. Ordered mine 3 weeks ago, still hasn't shown up yet. I will be posting an article soon after I get some time on it. Man I hope it gets here soon, my permit is only good for three months before I have to take the test, and I want to get some experience on it before I show up for the test and dump it, LOL.

Hello Onestar99, funny you should post, I just got a call from P.A Power and my bike is in, even though I don't have the Kawasaki credit card yet. They said I could get everything without it, maybe because I have spent 10,000 there for work. I'll let you know what happens. Man I'm pumped. My first bike was a Hodaka 125 Enduro with the chrome fenders and tank, I was 14, then I bought a Suzuki RM 80 from a kid that raced, and it had more power than the 125. Then I got a Yamaha 225 three wheeler, and let me tell you if you can ride a three wheeler you can ride anything. Then I bought a Suzuki LT250R Quad (1985) As far as road bikes I had a Yamaha 650 and 750 special. This will be the first new anything I have bought including cars and trucks. We'll talk more I gotta run.

Hey Index I just got my new KLX 250S today, haven't even been able to ride it yet, unloaded it in the dark, since my dealership is an hour away and didn't have time. Plus my permit is only good for daylight hours. Man I shouldn't have let my endorsement laps last time, had it since 1982, and thought....oh well. I too am the only one on the peninsula in Washington State to get one, in fact I ordered the bike three weeks ago and the dealership only got 2 in and they sold in a matter of minutes. Wow we are about as far from each other in this country as we can get, and yet we can share ideas, and feedback, cool. I gotta get a hold of the other guy on the Peninsula so we can compare notes. I will be posting a ride report as time goes on. Great to meet both of you and am looking forward to many discussions. Peace.

Well I put a mile on the bike last night, didn't want to get into trouble with it, since it was dark by the time I got back from fishing. You know the bike is taller than I expected, and I'm glad. Ever since the late 80's bikes have remained the same size; engine wise; but the seat and shock height has continued to get taller and taller. I'm 6-1 and I can just barely get my feet to be flat on the ground when sitting on the seat. That's the way I wanted it. It's Friday morning, and it's pouring down rain, and I know that a lot of guys would be like "where's the mud", but I really didn't buy this bike to see how dirty I could get it. When I have something for years even, it usually looks almost brand new. Hmmmmm, I guess weather reports will mean a little more to me now. But where I live that can change in a couple of minutes. We have hundreds of miles of gravel logging roads, and even more trails here, and the best thing of all, they are all within less than 5 miles from town. That's another reason I went with the Dual Sport, so I wouldn't have to truck the bike to where I wanted to ride. Also I am going to use it as a daily driver, (non extreme weather permitting) to go to work, and just about everywhere. Man I can't wait until summer, it feels like my first bike again. Oh I bought one of those bike stands with the jack in the frame, $250.00 but well worth it. It actually lifts the bike up 4 ft. And for guys like me with a not so young back, its awesome. Well I've talked long enough, and now I have to go to the garage and look at the bike again. LOL, later

Hahahahahaha Check this one out, from January 17th 06. I guess I changed my mind since then.

It's great to see how excited all of the guys here are about changing up their bikes. As this is my first new bike ever, and the first dual purpose bike since my Hodaka days in 1979, I have decided that the only other mod I am going to do is the sprocket change, either front of back, still waiting to decide on that. A lot of you are messing with the jetting, exhaust and air box, and that's good if it works, but for me I am a little cautious about changing stuff that I no nothing about, And I usually like to keep things as original as possible. However it is really interesting to read of all the mods you guys are doing, and I thank Todd for the Pelican idea and instructions. The front fender extensions have worked really great for me, and have kept the water/mud off the front fender and light as well as the motor. So keep up the great work, and the sharing of ideas, because that's what it's all about. It's like we all live in the same neighborhood, even though separated by hundreds or thousands of miles. Way to go!!

Yikes - the inside of your garage looks like a firetrap - good thing the KLX has a spark arrestor!
