It didn't look that bad i think. Could've been worse. The area on the bottom was dirtiest. Considering my riding style, this looks relatively acceptable but I'm open to other inputs.

yeah... to be clear, it's mainly there to catch oil from the crank case breather (which vents into the airbox). some bikes pump more oil than others, especially at highway speed. in my big thumpers I put a piece of copper ChoreBoy scrubby pad in the breather hose. that helps condense oily vapor & capture any drops before they even get to the box. then that oil drains back to the case.
my Gen I KLRs could fill that thing twice a day on the highway (and never after the 685 & 705 kits were installed)
