First time I ever did that was on my YZF600r three weeks after I bought it brand new. I paniced and tossed it into the gravel and bushes at 35mph. Now that I know that it's not a big deal and not to panic, it happens a lot when I'm shifing hard into a corner.

+1 on no beanie helmets. Rocks to the face form other cars is no fun.
