Almost crashed today!

Learning to ride a dirt bike as a kid is the best way to get started riding motorcycles. You learn how to recognize when the bike is about to go down and correct it. You also learn how to 'crash better'. Once you drop the bike a few dozen times your mind prepares you to better protect yourself in a crash by better positioning.
I got so good at crashing my old 1984 KDX that I managed to land on my feet from time to time. But that was the olden days.
Taking the KLX off road on some trails can help you get used to the weight and function of the bike. Once you start 'throwing' the bike around on trails you'll be better prepared for the street.

Glad you didn't crash man. Keep in mind that when we all got these bikes early on in 2006 we discovered that in the wrong gear and touching the rear brake the tire can lock up pretty easy. Even with us fat guys on the bike.
