Default Air Filters

I'm unhappy with the K&N air filter. Does not fit well in the air box. Putting the stock filter back on and looking for some input on which air filter to replace it with. Thinking of using either the Uni, No Toil, or Twin Air. Any opinions and experiences that would help me make a decision would be appreciated. If you know the part number of these filters please let me know. The KLX250S is not listed on the manufactures website. Probably uses the same filter as the KLX300.

i have the uni..... honestly didnt see much of an impovement... but fits fine. and its was half the price of a k&n.... from what i hear k&n's on dirt bikes are bad..... cause of all the dirt that its constantly exposed to... you can see daylight through the thing.... how good is it?

I know it's a stupid question, but are you sure you have the right filter (KA-1287)? Mine is a PITA to get in, but it fits nice and snug. I found the trick to getting it in is to first scrunch it into the airbox opening, but don't seat it yet. Next, put the end cover on the filter and the put the winged bolt through the end cover. Then, seat the whole assembly at once.

That is the way I installed mine. But when you place the metal top on the filter, it feels like the sides of the filter is being squeezed out of shape to fit the lower edge in the air box. The stock filter touches the bottom of the air box but it is not hard surface to hard surface. It just don't feel right. Worried about the seal.

Yeah, I know what you're saying. That's what makes it such a pain. If the filter was just a 1/2" shorter, everything would fit nice.

I just hadmine out and in last night. I put my hands on the sides of the filter after getting the winged bolt started and squeezed, pulled, and prodded- eventually the end of the filter popped tight against the end cap all the way around. Putting some filter oil or WD40 on the end of the filter helps. All I can say is that you have to play with it a little.

I've had K&N filters on all of my other bikes, and this one by far is the most ill-conceived. If K&N had put just 10 minutes of thought into it, we wouldn't betalking aboutthis.

I'm currently using the Twin Air backfire proof filter, and it fit really well, no issues at all.

I've been running the K&N for over 8 months...... the klx300 filter does fit perfect..... but it is tough to align correctly..... the filter is not round. Once you get it right once it's easy.

Does anyone have the part number for the No-Toil Filter that fits the KLX250S?
