Just get a KDX snorkel, with no snorkel and lid on it is stupid loud in 6th gear under a load (cruising down the road). I can't imagine no lid. I could hear the drone over the Q4/powrbomb setup. All the guys that say toss the lid must be hearing impaired, or soon will be.

WHAA ??? You'll have to speak up !!

Seriously though, even with my KDX snorkel and now modded stock exhaust, the intake is louder than the exhaust. I also can not imagine how loud no lid at all would be.

I think I said I removed the LID and the bike ran way better. I could hit the rev limiter in gears 1-4. Did not try 5 &6. I have not been able to ride the bike since. I also removed the backfire screen this winter. Still stock air filter.

I do have a 125 and 130 main. Its a 135 now. It ran no different with the 130 lid on KDX snorkel and screen still in. It had NO ***** at the top end. I could not hit the rev limiter with the 130 Or 135 main.

Old carb ran good with 132 main. I am close.

i have an 07 klx 250 that idles up and down even when warm. it idles between 1000-1900 rpm. When I bought the bike the snorkle was missing from the airbox....could this be the cause of the idling issue?

My first thought is air leak, second is just too lean on idle.

The best way to make a motor more effecient is to help it intake and exhaust better.... so freeing up the intake, removing the lid or snorkel, and an exhaust will help this motor alot. The "intake noise" is not loud enough to be heard by property owners... it will make the bike perform alot better. I have done just about all the cheap mods to the klx you can do. Some of the things read about online that are supposed to give huge gains are disappointing. From my experience the best money spent, was exhaust, jetting correctly, springs... In that order. Just my opinion. The intake noise might be "loud" to someone, but to someone else it may not noticeable... Taking the snorkel out to me, the bike isnt loud. Taking the lid off is a noticable difference. I have my lid on still because i have been known to play in water, so i have mine on still to help keep water out. If i was in a dryer climate it would be gone. When i go to colorado ill be removing the lid. Just my 2 cents.

Agreed - no airbox lid = painfully loud. Really really loud.
