I never liked the locking cap either. For a longer range, I put on an aftermarket Clarke tank, which incidentally has a screw on cap. I'm unaware of a replacement cap for the stock tank. If you reeeeeaaaaaly want a screw on cap, with the bonus of a longer range, you could go with an aftermarket tank.

Question

Thanks for the reply. I don't have $200 for a larger tank, just wanted to replace the cap for ease of use without the dang lock. Now I got to find a non dual sport type rear fender. Not exactly sure which KX model will fit. Any Ideas?

If you've got to have one...your only real option is the aftermarket MX style fender made by Maier for the KLX300. No KX fender is a direct fit.

Ouch...at least he isn't asking for the moon like some people.

Is there a way to modify the stock cap to prevent it from locking and not affect the looks?

Could a locksmith work the lock over so it could be opened with something other than the key, like a screwdriver?

What would be the difference, sticking a small screw driver or the key in it to open it.... Sounds like he wants just a screw off one. Havta get a new tank bud....

i came across this zeta cap before, but it's $70...says it fits the klx250...not sure how it works...can't tell, but it looks like there is a hole above "zeta"...maybe this just screws on top of the stock cap...
