So I know some of you have done the Acerbis Dual Sport tail light mod. I wanted to get rid of the black rooster tail finally and didn't want to spend big bucks on a fancy LED setup. Just the simple basic tail light with the license plate below it. Just a couple of questions on how you mounted it:

Did you use the factory rubber boot that the stock tail light used? How did you get the light to mount flush?

Do you have to raise the rack?

The bolt holes don't quite line up, did you just drill new holes?

If you have any pics, that would be fantastic.

By the way, how dumb is it for Kawasaki to hard wire in the stock lights, so you can't remove anything without cutting wires. Would it kill you to put a couple of disconnects on there?

Just an FYI, i took it back off. It burnt out brake light bulbs like crazy, Didnt want to have to always worry about if i have a brake light or not so i but the stock light back on.

 

Yeah, I have seen these lights on a few bikes and just went ahead and got it before I read any of this.

Wish I would have known about the bulbs burning out before I did this. You are not the only person who has mentioned this.

Now I am torn between just finishing the install or going back to stock.

Where did you put your plate with the stocker back on? Did you re-install the tail?

I took the bracket the plate bolted to off of that black fender extended and just bolted it right to the fender under the stock tail light.
