Default acerbis tail light question?

i just got the acerbis tail light, does anyone have any pics for doing the install? or can tell me how to do it? i have the stock tail light unbolted and just the wires are connected. Do i just cut the wires and affix wire connectors to install it? if so what do i do with the stock license plate lamp wires? cut them and cap them off ? thanks for any info

I just cut the lamp wires short and tucked them away. Also put connectors on the ends of the wires and just connected themin the acerbis light. Easy simple.

i cut the license plate wires and capped them off and tucked them away ok cool...i cut the tail light wiresright at the bulb, the wires aren't long enough[:@]now i am gonna have to splice some old trailer harness wirein there....also i am guessing the light doesn't bolt up to the original holes? plus when i set the acerbis on the fender the plate holder is way too big and the "luggage" rack needs to be raised up...anybody else have these problems?

Its quite simple really. The rack has 4 bolts that hold it on, loosen all 4 slightly, then get all the junk off the fender, make a plate out of plastic to fill the hole where the old tail light was, bolt that in there and have the wires that are going to feed the new light come up through the middle of that. I actually riveted my light to the fender, and then the plate to the license holder. But first I trimmed any excess not only at the bottom, but also the sides and the top. Here are a couple of pics. You don't really have to install the light as far up as some of us have done, I could have brought it down another inch and it would not even touch the rack. The reason to loosen slightly the rack bolts is so you can get the light where you want and then tighten them.

I couldnt fit the luggage rack under it either. Deej ours cant be that different from yours. You didnt rivet the light fixture to the plate you put on? I've screwed mine as close to the hole as possible and its still too high.[:@]

I not sure what you mean, I riveted the acerbis tail light right to the fender under the rack. It really doesn't matter where on the fender you install the whole thing.

Like if that hole wasnt there (where teh stock light was) I could move the light down more and the rack would fit. so i was wondering if you put the light on the plate you fabbed up.

Oh OK I see what you mean. The light covers the hole by about a half inch. in other words if I was to scoot it down you would see the top of the divot in the fender.
