Acerbis Tail Light Install - Constant Brightness?
Hey folks, I have a fairly timely little question for you. I am in the process of installing my new (to me) Acerbis dual-sport license plate/tail light combo (thanks again Gary). Before actually mounting the light, I decided to check my electrical connections. I notice that the brake light is always illuminated with a constant illumination, regardless of whether the brake is engaged or not. Am I missing something?
It seems like one time when I was trying to get a pic of an LED tail light that I was trying out I had the same thing happen and it had something to do with the fact that I didn't have the bike in gear or something. That may sound dumb. I don't know. Anyway, I tried that this time and it had no effect, so I guess I am all wet.
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas, I sure would appreciate it. I was hoping to get my bike back together tonight so I could drive it to work tomorrow morning. High in the low 80s & sunshine for the past several days. Woohoo!

O yea hey bud, make sure the light bulb is in the tail light correctly, mine wasnt, i just assumed it was and wired it up and i ended up wiring it up backwards.... so make sure the bulb is in correctly and just temporarly connect the wires and when the more dim light is always on is the right way, and the bright light comes on with the brake.... there is just a ground, brake, and running light, just connect them up right and your good to go.

Strange. I swapped the wires and I'm getting the same thing.
I pulled the bulb out of my old light to make sure it was not that the 2nd filament in the Acerbis bulb was burnt out.
It almost looks like both filament are always light. Also the ground (red) wire seems to have no effect, which I guess is normal.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

Make sure your not hooking it up to the old license plate light wires.
I just checked mine and the connection is:
blue to blue
red to red
black to black/yel stripe
try that

Well, I've got it working, I think. There may be something going on with my bike unless I am just being more than the usual amount of clueless. Here's the deal:
As I have been checking this out, I have just been hitting the front brake to test because I was on the clutch side of the bike and it was easiest to just reach over and grab a handful of brake. Well, as I have said, I've been getting nothing. Well just now I engaged the back brake and it worked.
Is my elecrical screwed up or does the brake light only key off of the back brake?
Thanks,
Chris
