Acerbis Rally Pro handguards

Acerbis Rally Pro handguards
Are they all the same or are there different fits for different bikes? Are they more difficult to install than other brands?
Just a little confused here about bar end tapping and plastic only kits and the mounting kits being separate.

You need to match the hand guards mounting kit with the diameter of the bars you're running. (OE is 7/8") If you use the OE bars you'll have to remove the plugs in the bar ends or at least tap them to accept the bolt from the hand guards you purchase. I've read mixed reports about the fitting of the Acerbis Rally Pro's! I'm using the original hand guards, Barkbusters (the VPS model). I see they cost a bit in the USA as they're an Australian product. I'm in AUS so it's not an issue. They are tuff. Fact.

I got the rally pros to fit fine on my 09. I tapped the bar end weight with a 1/4 inch tap and had to mess around a little bit with the bar clamps but they went on fine. They are not as "roomy" as those on Westoz's machine but the fit fine.

I bought the ProTaper SE "KX High" bars from RockyMountainATV for ~$65 and installed them at the same time I did the Acerbis Ralley Pro's and everything went fine. The handlebar upgrade was money well spent - less vibration, less flex/bending, and I'm not hunched over on the pegs now.

How tall are you? I'm about 6 foot.
I'm looking at these Tusk Aluminum bars on rockymountain for about $15...I'm not sure what size to get. CR, KX, YZ high and low bends?
I like the stock bars, but standing up definitely sucks, either I have to crouch more, or ride with fully extended arms.

Imo, the cr highs were about the same as the stock 06/07 bars. I am running bar risers under mine now.
As far as the rally pro's go. I am running a set, but don't think I willl purchase another set again. Don't get me wrong, they are good handguards but I think that there are better ones out there. The hand coverage on them don't seem that great. There are optional spoilers you can get for them which would probably help. They also get a little cramped in the lever department. They will also move if they get a hard impact by hitting the ground. I never lost a lever on impact from them moving, so I guess they did there job. Other hand guards will probably move as well.
Overall they are a pretty tough handguard, and would probably suit most perfectly with the type of riding that you do. For me, if they had a little more hand coverage I would probably get another set, but I just feel that there are some other guards that are a couple notches above the rally pro's.
Honstly, if you want a tough handguard, pick up a dirtbike mag that covers enduro racing(especially tight woods racing) and look at the handguards that those guys are running, then buy one of those sets. Yeah they probably get them for free from a sponser, but there going to run the best there is regardless.

Not really. Still room to move my hands around. I just used a Stanley Knife to trim the end off the grip. I only trimmed about 5mm. As for the throttle tube, I didn't trim anything off the length. I drilled the end the same size as the internal diameter of the Renthal bars. It still has a small flange on the end of the tube.

#2 - Next, I'm going to install some Acerbis hand guards, did you guys just drill through the end on the plastic throttle tube? Mine is closed on the end.
