sure does. any time you adjust your chain, you're lengthening your wheelbase unless you go to a larger rear sprocket. That's what the adjusters do- they pull the wheel back to tighten the chain slack. I don't even know if it is possible to go larger in back if you still have stock 14-tooth sprocket up front. It may be out of the parameters of adjustment on the swingarm. since we're going one tooth down up front with stock 42 in back,we immediately gain slack in the chain. whoever has done this mod knows what I'm talking about.
So would shortening your chain a link compensate for the 13T sprocket so you don't have to extend the bikes wheelbase?
And if you go with a larger rear sprocket can you use a longer chain to stay within parameters? Or at least that's what I've done in the past on some of my other bikes.

shortening a link may make it too short and tight, I wouldn't. You won't gain a bunch of slack with a one-tooth loss but a little. If you add, say, like a 45 out backlike I did on my '06with the 13 up front, you will indeed need a 108-link chain. The stock chain is just too short.
