About to rebuild my front forks, what weight oil should I go with?
Hello everyone, I tried to research the OEM oil weight in my service manual to 2018 250s but to no avail.
The 250s front suspension seems a bit soft for me mainly riding through trails while I push the bike and myself to the limit. Some points I bottom out the suspension when I come up to an unexpected rock or rut in the trail, and a heard that adding a heavier weight will stiffen up the suspension to make it less likely to bottom out. I guessing I weigh 170 lbs with all my gear and supplies with me. Do you have any recommendations?

My manual for a '13 shows KHL15-10, which despite the "-10" in the name, I believe is equivalent viscosity to a 5wt.
Keep in mind, the forks are already a bit harsh on square edges with the stock valves and oil. You could probably benefit more from heavier springs and then run the same or lighter oil. A heavier oil or change in level could make it better or more harsh. An upgrade to racetech valves would also help. Check out racetech's spring rate calculator to see how far off you are on springs for your riding style.

Mind telling me what springs you went with and how hard it was to swap them out?
