Default Abducted by UFO on KLX

Is this normal - after I replaced the #35 pilot with the #40 I never need to use my choke. The bike always fires up within the first crank (okay, almost all the time). If I try and use the choke the bike WON'T start. What gives?

The choke basically starves the engine of air to richen the mixture for starting, right? So maybe with the bigger pilot jet the choke is making it too rich? No air = no fire. I dunno, my bike is stock and I need to use the choke everytime I start it cold. I'm also only about 200 feet above sea level. I personally wouldn't complain about never needing to choke it. You risk angering the kawasaki gods.

Ask the aliens. Where did they take you?

Brian, that sounds about right - maybe I should go with a #38 pilot?

mmatz, I was hoping the aliens would take me to Pagosa Springs, the heat here is driving me insane. Almost bought a house in Pagaso back in '94.

I would try less turns out on the FS first. 2 1/2 turns out sounds like a lot with 40 pilot at your altitude.

BTW, what is the issue here? Are you having problems starting when the engine is hot?

Good question - what is the issue here? Just feels like it's running too rich - maybe it's just the heat in my helmet baking my friken brain bub! I'll turn the FS in a half turn and take it from there.

If you make it to Pagosa we will ride. I have been here 17 years and love it. We had a heat wave for about 2 weeks, 80 - 90 degrees,15 to 20 percent humidity. Monsoon season now with showers pretty much every afternoon.

Same goes here, if you ever want to thaw out during the winter...
