All,
So I'm new to the board and possibly new to this bike. That's the real question...before you roll your eyes (yes I frequent boards like this and get frustrated with noob questions as well), here's what I'm trying to do.
There is a klx250 with apparently a blown engine sitting in a driveway a few hours away. I know who belongs to it and would likely be able to pry it from him for a few hundred bucks.
The plan is to rebuild it "completely.". At least mechanically. I've looked a bit and couldn't really find that exact engine (I think I saw one that was rebuilt). Can I use the new model engines in this bike. I've seen talk in a few threads that's it's basically the same engine but I didn't wanna dig into the project without being sure.
I've done plenty of engine, suspension work on my trucks, so I'm capable...but this bike will be for my stepson. Once I tell him I'm doing it, there will be no turning back so I don't want to jump into something that's going to cost me 3 grand because to parts availability is sketchy. And this whole project will be done by the both of us so that he can start learning.
Ok, have at me.
And thanks in advance.
Bill
