74 degrees in December ... what to do?
Some pics from today ...
Folks rolling in, lots of different types of bikes:
HardTaco's KLX - it's the only green there.
A Husky TC - first time I've seen one up close. Man, I thought my EXC made alot of engine noise, this thing sounds like it is going to fly apart. Nice bike, though.
Here's one of the new KTM '08 300cc 2-strokes. This bike is beatiful. They say it's got a huge amount of low-end torque, like a four stroke, and all the mid and upper range you dare try to use.
Geared up, engines running ...
Clearing some crap off the trail, I think:
Waiting for stragglers. The DRZ had some mechanical issues (dead battery).
Bond. James Bond.
At the end of some twisty single-track we come out here, turn around and do it the other way. It's just as hard the other way. [&:]
Taking a water break.
Can't remember why we stopped here, probably just waiting on folks to catch up.
By my odo, I did 60 miles, about 40 on the road getting there and back and the rest was 20 miles of the tightest gnarliest single track you'd ever hope for. Had a couple of good hill climbs thrown in there. One in particular was pretty interesting, one of those kind that go pretty much straight up, then you launch into the air about mid-way, and come back down a little ways up the hill and keep on going to the top. I just tried not to think about what would happen if it didn't work out ... turns out it was quite exhilarating. At the end of the day my arms were spent, my knee guards were digging into my shins, my rear was killing me after the 20 miles of pavement on the way home after riding hard all day, and I was running on fumes as I pulled into the driveway. It was excellent!!!

That's great, nothing like riding in the 70's! Looks like a KTM Convention - Is the guy with the Kaw forced to ride in the back of the pack?!

Great photos! What are all those hundreds of long poles sticking up with the green and rust colors on top?
