I've run mine at 8.5k+ for a constant 45 minutes on numerous ocassions (ocassional I-95 commute to work) just don't get close to that muzzy header .....2+ years of beating the snot out of it with almost 8k miles mostly in high reving sand....and she still sounds like a sewing machine.

My opinion is, if it can't do highway speeds and better for a prolonged period of time they wouldn't sell it as a street legal bike.

Haha, red-lining it for about 3 minutes every lap and jumping doubles for about and hr is beating it. (not that I would ever do such a thing)

It has a rev limiter. It will drop down like 3k once it hits it. So don't really worry about over-revving it. But if your gonna run it high like me you must change and check the oil a lot. But don't listen to me, I'm sure someone is going to scold me[8D]

Who could scold ya...my 8.5k post was a constant for 40+minutes.....short term riding in sand I know I go way higher and I try to shift gears quick enough to avoid the rev limiter....sometimes with sucess....others not so much..lol.

But sheet, its a street legal $3k dirt bike....I'm going to flog it like a red headed stepchild.
