Thumbs up 6-20-10 North Central Pa Ride Report

Got back a short time ago from a long weekend at camp in Clinton Co. Pa. Although I'm calling this a ride report I think it's a bit different than most as this is my normal stomping grounds and not neccessarily a new adventure for me other than it's now on a klx that is new to me. Also, it was a family event.... I thought about leaving out the family photos but that wouldn't really be a true depiction of my weekend.

So here goes....

After leaving work on Thur. it took me about 2 hours and 45 min. to get to this point. The sun was setting and the ride was awesome!

Oh yea, I doubt I'll get these in the right order so bare with me.

Fri. morning we headed up into one of the atv areas, tons of back woods trails and lots of mud holes and hills. Didn't take long for my nefews gf (Kaylee) to get stuck.

I took lots of bike pics.

This next spot turned out to be my embarassing moment of the weekend. As we approached these mud holes there was just a small sliver of gooy mud between the mud holes. I figured I could squeek thru but my front tire slid down in and myself and the bike fell over sideways and I landed in the mud waist deep. Luckily I kept the bike mostly above water and none enter thru the air filter.

The big picture...

Some of the hills.... known as The Pit. This is my nefew Brad playing on the hills on his Prarie 650

Went bact to camp around noon to hang out with the kids... This is my son Brady. Unfortunately his mother and his sister couldn't make it this weekend. My daughter Jena had a softball tourny and my wife took her there.

The next morning I started out up Mill Run Rd. A rough nasty road that leads into the middle of nowhere! Destination for this ride is to George B. Stevenson Dam in Cameron Co. via back woods.

Some recent logging,

Finally civilization.... well almost. This is the only gas station in many many miles in either direction and their gas prices reflect it. I filled up, luckily I only needed on gal.

Back on the road back to camp for lunch and more family activities.

I promised Brady I'd take him swimming at our favorite swimming hole. This place looks like a Mt. Dew commercial should be filmed here, it's freaking awesome and it's off the beaten path!

Brady should have had a nap before the swim.

and this

Back to camp for more R&R in the evening. Over all I put on 205 miles on the bike. Just about every single mile was off road. The riding I did on Fri. was the most difficult off road I've done yet. Other than a drink in a big mud hole and one or two other minor incidents (dropped bike) I survived fairly well.

hope you enjoyed.

Nice report. Love the hauling setup you have on your truck for the bike.

Nice picts, what tear is your Tacoma? How is it with the hitch hauler? I was thinking about getting a truck with a cap in place of my Civic.

Tom,

My Tacoma is a 2002. I was afraid it would be to much weight on the rear but I barely knew it was there, worked perfectly!
