6,000 km service?
Just passed the 6,000km mark on my '09.
Can anyone give a brief rundown on what's involved in the scheduled service?
Also, the last oil & filter change I did, I put in the 1.5lt of oil (as I've always done) that is recommended. Since then, I've noticed there is slight 'weeping' of oil from around the head gasket.
When I check the oil through the sight glass (bike upright), the oil level takes up the whole glass. Therefore, I'm guessing it's over-filled? This has never happened before in the 4 times I've changed the oil & filter.
Would too much oil be causing the leak?
Cheers.

I've over filled my sf once to just over the top of the sight glass with no leaks between the entire interval. Usually I buy 3 quarts at a time and that is perfect for 2 oil changes (bike never burns oil thus far at 7500 miles)... in other words I find the engines markings of 1.5l to be pretty spot on.

1.4 L refill with filter change. 1.5 L after complete rebuild, so very slightly overfull.
Head gasket or camcover weeping? Probably cam cover weeping at the half moons. Common issue best cure is a new cam cover gasket.

Not sure about the KLX250s but my dr200se will read more than "full" if you add exactly what it tells you, in the owners manual it says to run it for 3 minutes, let is sit for 3 minutes, then check it. When I do that it puts the oil right at "f" on the eyeglass.
This allows the engine to pull the oil, soak the gears, and the 3 minutes of sitting lets it drop the excess amount it typically uses.

1.4 liter with filter replacement and 1.3 liter without filter replacement...you slightly overfilled it as ol'klx-er mentioned...
i usually do the oil changes after a long commute...as soon as i get home, i have the oil catcher below and plug off when it's still very hot...when it stops, i stand the bike straight and shake a bit to get every drop out..
i replace/clean my oil filter and clean the area of any excess dirty oil....
close it back up and plug in....measure out exactly 1.4 liters of new cool oil....(i don't like pouring and watching the sight glass because it doesn't always settle right away)...but, pouring in exactly 1.4 liters has always been perfect after i run the engine and check the sight glass....
