41 mpg

I got right around 60 mpg when the bike was stock. Lower gears (much) and lots of trail time...now it's around 45 to 50 mpg (actual). Average speed is usually around 7 to 10 mph (miles / run time on Vapor computer)...darn, that sounds really slow

Just got back from 2.5 weeks of thrashing about in Colorado on singletrack and the more famous 2-tracks in SW CO. My KLX is almost computer-like in it's ability to get 55 mpg time after time under real off road use. Frankly I'm surprised how consistently it does it. It has an OEM 300 cylinder, full Muzzy exhaust, all airbox mods, and DJ kit in the OEM carb. Many of the pass and singletrack uphills have you winding the nuts out of the bike, but then you're also almost coasting the steep downhills on the other side. I've gotten well over 60 mpg on all pavement use around home, but off road I can pretty much count on about 55 mpg. With an Acerbis tank, I'm a wore out dude by the time I have to worry about fuel.

My 09 250 starts to sputter at around 95 miles on the odo. I tend to switch it over to reserve around 80 and fill'er up around 100. I'm running stock jetting with an FMFQ4. I don't really worry about the MPGs, I could probably ride around with a hole in the gas tank and it would still get better mileage than my truck

Also according to both GPS's on the KLX and the Honda Both bikes are both slow by 4.5 mph, so on the bikes I can ride 5 mph above what the speedo says and I'm right on the money.

mileage
I consistently get 80 miles before the sputter, which most pumps show to leave around a little less than .5 gallons in reserve. So I figure 50 mpg. That has been with premium. I think I am going to switch back to UNL and see what diff it makes. Either way at switch to reserve, I look for gas. As long as I am not dropping $130 like when i fill up the truck, I am happy as a pig in SH*T.
I am currently looking for a way to mount a couple MSR bottles for the trail, but havent figured a way on the nomadic rack that I like. Time for more mods!
I cant justify the $300 for the larger tank for only one gallon increase in capacity. Seat either for that matter, hopefully the callouses will form and it will be a non issue.

What an opportunity to do some more math.

Hmmmm not sure about that, but I could be wrong...I mean its bound to happen eventually. LOL But seriously, and 25 mph its still off by 4.5 and at 70 its still off by the same amount, so unless we are talking about Mach 1 or above, I don't see where it would change.
