400 miles

400 miles
Put alot of miles on my bike over my vacation. 400 + in all sand trails, my stock tank is back on due to my Clarke leaking so I only get about 60 miles out of a tank.
The bike ran good with the new pipe! I played with the jetting and its pretty good now.
I took a big spill my last ride (high sided) and left me with a huge welt on my gut!
My Wife is concerned but she'll get over it (She is a doctor).
The bikes a big dust ball so I have some cleaning to do I'll have a few weeks before the next ride.

RE: 400 miles
Cleaning? I like the sound of that. Hey Kevin haveyou tested to see when you have to switch to reserve? I am riding in gravel, trails and in town and three times now I let the bike hit reserve on purpose to see where it starts to run out, and all three times it was at 70, then I usually get to the house and fill it up. But if I'm hitting 70 before reserve, then I would imagine I could go 100 miles on a tank. What do you usually get on a tank?

RE: 400 miles
with my stock displacement on or off road....my judgement...
At H-M (West Virginia) I ran 83 miles and did not touch reserve......I was running a #40 pilot and a 126 main with an FMF powercore IV silencer and a four stroke workes header along with a twin air filter......I was not babying it but I was not running wide open either ....they were tough trails and i was running with 4x4 quads the whole way.
On road with my Dunlop D607's on I have run 97 miles before reserve with a #38 pilot and a #128 main jet and i was carving corners........not sure what to take of all this as over 100 miles my bikes odometer is off about 4.3 miles from my gps and that is somewhat ok.....
yes i know i did a jetting change but either way i relate it to riding style.....My bike has never needed to see over 9000 rpm so maybe that's the difference......it runs killer from 4500-about almost 9k and thats the sweet spot so why run outside of that?
