Default 351BB upgrade, hard start

So after some time, I finally got the BB kit and new carb in and the cams aligned correctly. The instructions say to adjust the tps and then disconnect? If I read correctly my 2009sf does not have a tps. Is this right? I scanned the manual and couldn't find a thing. The last tidbit was to adjust the air screw.

The bike initially fired and I ran a heat cycle as instructed. The bike sat a few days. Friday I went to put some miles on to get through break in and it took almost 2 minutes to get the bike to run at all. Even on the 10 miles I put on it, it felt really bogged down for having a new head and better carb. It died once at a light and I managed to get it fired again. Once I got home after 10 miles, it would not restart.

Bill said not to touch a thing on the carb, pull the old one and install the new one, he set it to what I am running and I trust that. I tried searching for tps on this forum and didn't find hardly anything. I also tried to google it with no helpful results.

My other bike burned through it's 3rd stator so I have been bikeless for 2 weeks now.

Any help please?

2009klx351sf, tm33/34 carb, stock exhaust, 5000 miles roughly, no other mods besides luggage.

Something is wrong someplace. Maybe the carb isn't seated right, you've got a pinched fuel line, you forgot to put gas in it, the battery was kind of shot and now it won't push the 351 kit. I really cannot say but something is wrong someplace. Just hope it's not inside the head. I doubt it this, but my valve clearance needed to be adjusted after the rebuild, but it probably needed it before too.

The 351 kit starts fine, the carb is a known mod. Something is wrong, not having worked on it I really cannot say what. Try the simple stuff first. Make sure the carb is seated.

Check your valve clearances also.

I am running the same set-up as you, BB351 on stock exhaust and stock airbox with Bill modified pumper carb. Mine started poorly at first too. Adjusted air screw and had to increase idle considerably to get it to start but bogged badly above 4-5000 RPM. I had a KDX snorkle on hand and after install runs beautifully. What Jets did Bill install and whats your altitude? I am at 3-600ft and Bill installed a 42.5Pilot and 142.5 Main if I remember correctly.

Bill set the carb for my altitude and setup including the modified airbox with the klx snorkel, which is all in place.

Battery is good.

I will check the fuel lines when I get home.

The air mixture screw, I presume, out means more air?
