Default 351 SM Dyno Videos

First thing is I'm not a video expert, my son had to help me on his PC to get up the video, go figure...

This one is of the break in runs on the dyno

This one is another 2 runs one with exhaust temp of 800*

This one is of a few runs in 4th and 5th gear, most runs were in 3rd gear.

After the dyno I took it for a ride I didn't like the boggy feel with the open air box and it hestitated at the top/lean. I came home and put the airbox lid back on and it ran alot better, the throttle response picked up and the hestitation on top was gone. The bike needed more main jet than what the dyno said? There it ran good with the open air box and 142 main. Once in a while it seemed to hesitate at the top, when I would back off the throttle alittle, so I went up to the 145 and it runs awesome now!

Since the dyno run I replaced the copper head gasket with a fiber/steel ring, rehoned, new rings and shaved alittle off the head and cylinder to make sure it seals up for good!

Knock on wood.... it has for the last 500 miles!

It looked like the dyno was showing your afr to be around 12.5/1. Stochiometric efficiency is 14.6/1. SO going up on the main was the best idea. The blue flame maybe caused by an over rich idle circuit on decel.

The pain in the *** of tuning carbs is why I pay folks to do it. Since I walked out of the car dealership and stopped fixing cars 10yrs ago, I just dont seem to have the patience nor the proper tools anymore to properly do that stuff.

The only way your going to get a carb perfect is to have a gas analyzer, put the bike up on a stand and tune all the circuits individually to the point where your afr is 14.6 or close to it all the way through the throttle.

Great job!! That torque is quite impressive for this bike!!

Very cool. I watched your vids and then went on to watch other vids of cars blowing up on the dyno or falling off the dyno. One vid was a guy who accidentally stepped on the dyno drum and was immediately put face down. ouch You tube it's all on there.
