Default 351 power question?

I've read lots of folks in here talking about how they can wheelie without dumping the clutch in first, second, and even third with the big bore. Are y'all saying that you can just go down the road, whack open the throttle, and have the front end come up... or are you sitting way back, pulling up, etc?

Mainly just curious because my big bore sure won't do that and I'm wondering if I'm missing something. It seems to be tuned well, but it's sure not going to lift the front end up just by going WOT. I've got a 15 tooth on the front, but still...

SF, 351, megabomb, Q4, no lid, stock carb, #38 pilot, #132 main, DJ needle and spring

Thanks!

Im running 13-46 gearing and i can just whack the throttle in first and second and itll stand up. Third takes a bit more coaxing.

I'm not as up on the SF gearing characteristics, but I'd say that 15T front sprocket isn't doing you any favors for wheelies.

My 351 will not wheelie without prodding, I have a 13. Stock except for carb/351.
That is fine with me, if the front end comes up while riding, fine. I tend to have much more control with the front end on the ground.

351s, Dynojet kit, DG pipe, Hot Cams 101, stock gearing.

I have to "effort" the front up with clutch or a bump.

my 331 will wheelie first and second no problem. in the right rev range, close the throttle and then whack it back open and you're on one wheel.

third will come up but needs some pulling and weight transfer.

also you might want to revisit your jetting may be pig rich like mine was with the 132 DJ main. even with the lid off it was too fat and wouldnt wheelie worth a damn. i went back to the 128.

38 pilot might be too much as well.

Thanks everybody. I'm not really NEEDING to wheelie or anything, mainly just wondering if I've left a bunch of power on the table somewhere that I'm not perceiving.

I just switched to the DJ #132 from the #128 and it is pulling a little stronger at WOT than it was, and part throttle response is excellent so I'm assuming my jetting is OK.

Sounds like I'm probably OK - I'm pretty much a newbie and I'm definitely sitting forward and leaning forward when I gouge on it... I'm also a little hesitant about being really abrupt with the throttle.

Wildcard, what symptoms told you you had gone too rich on the main?

bike just seemed to be down on power compared to the 128 and as i said it wouldnt wheelie anymore like i did before i put the new jet in. other than that the bike ran great. im almost tempted to try the 124 even just to make sure im still not rich.

when my bike was converted to 351 and the only other mod being jetting(132 main) i could wheelie in first and second with no clutch, with the PC4 addition the bike will come up in third and wants to come back over in 1st and second
