I almost got the S version, glad I did'nt because I have only wanted to go off road a couple of times and my bike still handled it ok for having road tires! Most of my riding is back and fourth from work, in town and the occasional twistys!

I hear ya there! As I consider this 351 kit, I also am eyeballing a 2009 SF that's going on Craigslist for a song. I'd prefer to put the 351 kit in there and have both a capable dirt and street machine. I'm just worried I would stop riding the "slower" bike, but my friends with multiple bikes tell me it won't be a problem- their main problem is deciding which one to ride every day!

Figures, a month after I buy my used '07, they announce the SF. At first I didn't know what the heck a motard was anyway, but after being through the canyon a few times you learn pretty quick.

It's a shame my new shiny FMF for the '07 won't fit on the '09, but what's another 300 bones to the motorcycle gods?

Oh! That is good to know- FMF seems to have different part numbers for the 06/07 and 09. Since I was originally thinking of a HMF and I thought they had a different '09 can, I figured FMF was the same deal. (To not melt the turn signal, maybe?)

I have low profile halogen taillights and would put them on any KLX, so I guess I'd be ok.

Thanks for the info!

+1 for for the bb351 kit. I still have basically no miles on my bike...about 40 I believe. I just had the 351 kit installed, but there was a leak issue at the cylinder head gasket. Bill was awesome and replaced the copper gasket with a new design from cometic (fiber with steel ring). the shop that did the work for me was great, too and got the bike back into the shop the day after I got my new gaskets and switched it over. I am running the stock sprockets and on the way home I had the bike up to 80 mph according to the speedo, and I thought the bike handled excellent for what it is...I also have a streetglide, so if I want to ride the roads....my klx probably will not be my first choice......but it will get me to the trails, which is why I bought it.

i had a dr650 that i just loved. i used the lowering link, lower seat, new continental tires, larger rear sprocket, uni filter, rejetted and put a two bros pipe on it. it was great on the dirt roads and very fun to ride. but it was just to much bike for me on the trails.

i sold it to my son inlaw and bought the 2007 klx250. of coarse as soon as i got it i had it pro lowered, two bros pipe, rejetted, larger rear sprocket, tore off that goofy plate holder, new front fender, added a skid plate and thought i was done. i'l never sell this bike. it's everything i needed off road.

but then i saw bill b. had the 351 kit and yes, i had to have it. along with the pumper carb. now i have everything i needed and wanted. i'm very happy with the snappiness of the carb with the extra grunt of the increased torque. but now i may be under geared and go back to stock or even higher.

no offence to the dr400 people but i test rode one and thought it was under powered, clumbsy handling and boring to ride. if you have to have a dr get a fun one like the dr650 or get the klx250 and have one of the most fun and adaptable (351) dual sports out there.

ps i just got a new 2010 triumph thunderbird. and cant leave it alone either lol.
