See how quiet the FMF is even with the big bore! I was pretty surprised the first time I fired it up. Almost sounded like the same bike.
But then I rode it and realized it was a whole new animal
Bike is running perfect now.

I am dieing for more CC's outta my 06 but I am leary on the 351 big bore kit. When you see the size of the cylinder bore you can also see how much less coolant flows around the cylinder. I'd like know if anyone has had any issues long term with the 351cc kit. Or is the kit so new nobody has had a chance to ride 4,5,6 thousand miles. And do you have to but upgraded cams when you upgrade to any of the kits, 300 331 351?

If you look at the wet sleeve that Larry Rossler used on his 331 kit it is similar to the one that I use. The coolent outlets in the head are smaller than the coolent inlets in the cylinder after I install the 351 sleeve. Havent had any problems with over heating.

I checked out the entire website for b&b cycle restoration and I see myself dropping a grand with them as soon as the weather turns to junk here in washington. after a pumper carb and 351cc kit and a FMF q4 header and pipe. this bike outta be the bike I wanted when I bought this bike. Trail tame yet fierce on the hill climbs. Thats sort of how it is now, I am just missing the WOW factor when I crack the throttle.

clg - the bike is pretty fierce on the hill climbs.. All the torque is down low and very usable.
The other day I was at an old landfill - tall dump with a pretty steep grade on each side. But it was all grass and very smooth. Hit the bottom of the hill at the low end of third gear, and just cracked it wide open.. I had to hold on pretty tight.. The thing just rips up hills - the torque feels amazing.
As far as overheating - I was out last week on local tight technical single track. Was about 85° out. I had the fan go on a few times in the slow sections, but never saw the red temp light come on. This also happened when I had the 250 so I'm not worried.
For good measure, I got some water wetter and added about six cap fulls total. I went out yesterday and did a 65 mile loop in the heat with technical stuff, and I think the fan only came on once when I was idling for a while.
It's pretty much where I hoped I could get it right now. I'm very happy. I have a 15t front sprocket in the mail so I'll see how that does it. Sometime in the future I'll get the pumper carb, but right now it performs perfect so I'm cool with it
