351 big blue, stock or pumper carb?

Well, I can only go by durielk's mileage, and I saw it compared to mine over a 3 or 4 day ride period. We both had identical ride mileage, and the rides were decently tough...all in Colorado. We hit mid-50's and low-60's. He had a 351 with the 34, and I had the 300 with the CV carb. We both had relatively low gearing. Now, I realize all bikes aren't carbon copies when it comes to performance or mileage results, but when I got even better mileage going to a 36mm pumper carb, well, seeing is believing.

Talk about variables, I get anywhere from 35 to 65 mpg, just depends on how much you twist the throttle. I generally don't do highway miles other than getting to the trailheads. Last DS, I think I got about 25mpg, but after getting it home I figured out I had left the choke on all afternoon. It was running like crap. I had a delayed start getting grouped up and forgot I had it on & didn't have the brains to figure it out.
