RE: 300cc first impression, ride report
guys, thankyou very much for the info. I've learned a lot. It seems the round thingthat joins the carb to the airbox is called an airbox adapter. Commonly people useone that's around 22-23mm long with an OD (outerdiameter) around 54mm for the klx250. Sudco offer apart021-216A which is 26mm long and 58mm OD which perhaps might do me. They also sell an 021-613 which is 23.5mm long and OD 58mm.
FM, would you please be able to measure the inner and outer diameter of your intake spigot (the part that goes between the carb and the manifold or engine side). Apparently these might be a screw in fit so I might not need to get one machined specifically. If I can get a length, ID and OD I should be able to choose from the enormous table of options and hopefully get the right one.
Funnily enough, Sudo list the 021-213 as the correct airbox adapter for the KLX, yet it's the one I have and is 40mm long..... way too long as the carb with this one fitted will not even fit between the frame rails on my bike. Interesting journey thanks guys.

kbekus heres some more pics
o.d of adapter between carb and motor 1.618" there is also a 894 stamped on the outside of the adapter. It is a screw in style
i.d of adapter 1.431" length of adapter is 1.300 from body of carb to the end of the adapter. I dont know how much is threaded in.
o.d of airbox side is 2.171" the adapter apears to be machined and then press over the flange as you can see in the pic.
i.d of flange is 1.741 in about the center of it. The inside is on a taper from the outside until it actualy reaches the carb body. This also looks like it was touched up with an air sander. Length of the machined part that sliped over the flange is .250" total length from carb body to end od adapter is .825"
Hope this helps, sorry for the inches you will have to do the conversion

I'm just trying to let newbies understand that just because you throw on this vortex throttle that it isn't going to open the throttle anymore than the stock one and it really is just a trade-off between less effort to open the throttle and less control and modulation of the throttle on the street where it may be important at times.

Hey Dave, can you post up some pics of the '09 that you saw or are talking about showing the new carb? I mean,if my '09 came with a 34mm CV Keihin on it (identical to my '06's), obviously I got jipped. Show me the all new carb so I can call my dealer and file a complaint/grievance with Kawasak. Hurry up cuz I'm pissed. I mean if I missed out on some awesome new FCR, this is grounds for a lawsuit. I'll be waiting.............DAVE!!!
