Default 3 hardest things

Well I've had my KLX and licensee almost a year now. So ac a learning dual sport rider here are what I found the three hardest. #1-----Keeping upright in really soft sand. Yeah I know faster is better but its freaky. especially if theres 2 foot boulders around you. That front tire really has a mind of its own. #2----- remembering to turn off that @!#* signal light! I just keep forgetting. Driving them 4 wheeled outfits got me spoiled I guess. Oh well, eventually I'll get it. And last but definitely not least #3--------Trying NOT to ride the KLX! You guys know what I mean. Wife has list of things to be done or you might have things that really should be done but what do ya do? Go for a ride! I'm a klx addict and I just cant stop. Cheers to ya all.

My yard went a month without being mowed after I got my bike. This is the first weekend I was STUCK doing family things I couldnt avoid. I think I will be riding after work tomorrow night. I got some alpinestars tech8's off craigslist. I am dying to try riding off road with REAL boots that have REAL protection

1#, no prob for me, just pin it to about 35mph, makes the front tire almost float, the bars will feel like the slight wobble you get from the freeway.
2#, it take time, i use to do it all the time but now i almost never leave it on.
3#, umm, this is where we both need to see the specialist.

#1 I don't have sand here
#2 I rarely forget anymore after 12,000 miles
#3 I got a wife that mows the lawn before I get home from work, and then says.."honey you should go for a ride"

Dang that reminds me of a great story that I should search for.....stay tuned.

well its hard to manouver around boulders at 35 mph. when its all sand im pretty happy. throw in some melon bashing rocks i gets skeerd! Tempting to strap boards to me feet. Guess I have a few more kms to go before i start remembering signals. Only put 8000 since last aug. Maybe I should start using them on trails as well - just to stay in the habit.

Sand is a beast... this week marks my one-year anniversary as well... and you're right, speed is the key. its only been in the last month or so that I've gotten comfortable just yanking the throttle and riding on top of the sand. Gotta keep up the momentum or it'll grab the front tire and suck you down in. Sit back on the saddle and let 'er rip. The stock front tire and the D606 replacement pretty much suck for the sand (and any REAL offroading for that matter).

The blinker has never been a problem for me. Only time I leave it on is if I push the cancel button and it doesn't cancel it (cheap *** Kawasaki plastic parts...)

And yes, staying off of it is a big problem with me. I've got 8900 miles on mine in the year I've owned it. My dad doesn't have 13,xxx on his '06 DRZ that'll turn 3 this fall. At this rate I'll blow past him by Christmas.

All I really know is soft sand, I bought the klx 3+ yrs ago hanging at my warehouse next to a big sand pit listening to kids on smokers rip it up after phishing for the day thinkin...hmmm perhaps I should do that again. I thought a street legal klx could do it. Ohhhhh was I mistaken.

Our bike floats on sand like a 40lb bowling ball. But after stripping everthing off and puttin in a big bore ...... she is a 30lb bowling ball. But thats ok, heavy as she may be ..... with the little extra hp...she can now float a little, but I think 40 mph min is required.

Single track in the soft stuff....yeah she can do it easier than my Adv ... but its nuthin like my buds 300 xcw smoker .... 60lbs is a lot.

Ok, done rambling....I luv my klx but yet hate her.

Oh, ya'll don't know what soft sand is.....even north florida which claims the sand is soft is like hard pack to me ....... hard pack riding is like cheating ...no?

Sand is hard work on the KLX but there a few things that can help.
Tyre pressure. 10-12psi.
Always be accelerating. Helps unload the front wheel.
Weight back for the same reason.
Once the weight goes forward, well ya know.
