2020 KLX250, gas in the oil, 90psi compression
Hi all,
Hoping someone can help me confirm or diagnose what exactly is going on here.
I bought a 2020 KLX250 with >1400mi recently. When I got it the oil was very full. While changing the oil I noticed a lot of gas in it.
Did a refill, rode for 2 weeks and did another oil change which also had gas in it.
Other symptoms:
1. Usually has trouble cold starting (need to rev it a bit) but once warm it starts no problem.
2. Sometimes if you pin the throttle while riding, it feels like theres a lag, like it's sort of bogged down.
Other than these few things the bike feels great and rides great. No white smoke, no weird sounds etc...
My research led me to two possible causes: 1 a bad fuel injector, or 2 a bad piston ring.
With my fingers crossed I ordered a new fuel injector. At the same time we put it in a buddy brought his harbor freight compression tester and we got 90psi.
I think that's low, but google hasn't given me a straight answer...
I just checked with Kawasaki and unfortunately its out of warranty at this point.
Is it definitely the piston ring? am I ****ed here?
Hoping someone can help me confirm or diagnose what exactly is going on here.
