Default 2020 klx250 conversion to wider wheels

Hi Everyone,
Newbie here. I wanted to see if anyone here went to wider wheels and tires front and rear on their KLX?

May I ask for what reason? I've been trying to discover what cast wheels would fit, but crickets so far.

What's your application? Do a search for sand tires, there are some previous threads on those.

If you are going for performance wider fatter tires aren't the way. For the S model a size smaller on the rear will perform better because of reduced weight and that the smaller size can get adequate traction, no problem. The SF or SM models have optimum size for their displacement with the 110 and 130, although a 140 may be more available for the back. When you figure that the Indian FTR1200 is running about the same width with around 120 hp, you will understand you don't need wider on a 20 hp 250. Now if you just want fat, have at it, whatever tire fits in the swing arm and fork. But go with the tire requirement before you just go get a wide rim, radial tires only fit specific width rims correctly. Do some research and measure your present tire in the swing arm. A friend runs I think a 150 on the back of his Suzuki, the chain hits the sidewall.

As for cast wheels, I've never read where anyone has done a set. Maybe someone over at supermotojunkie.com forum might know something. My guess would be there is no bolt on, but it may be possible to fit up rims from a 2008 and up Ninja 250 (second generation). But again, never read where anyone did it. Only where riders laced up correct size 17 rims to the stock hub or bought Warp 9 or the like.

Thanks, man. Nothing over there either. With so many of these bikes, I'm surprised no one seems to have found cast wheels so we can lose the tubes for the street and SuperMoto.

I have a set of Suzuki GS500 wheels I was going to fit up to the KLX650. It would take some spacer machining and some other type of speedo drive. I figured they could be fit with the Suzuki 300mm front rotor, because the 650 dual sport used a 300. The rear could also be used, but it would be some work to fit the rear caliper and carrier. But it could be done.
