2020 klx 300r muffler
So every since i bought this bike the muffler always bothered me being so long. I tired the q4 and kinda loved the sound but the look just wasn't there for me. So when the new 300r came out i start looking to see how feasible it would be to mount that and how it would look with minimal trimming as possible. So about a month ago after posting on thumpertalk, a bought one off a guy out in CA and had it shipped. Soon as i got it I noticed it was definitely going to work but some tweaks were going to be needed. So I cut an inch off the front of the pipe to really snug it as forward as possible with leaving bout a quarter inch between the muffler and the bottom plastic mounting location. After that i cut off the front mounting tab and the muffle and had a local shop re weld it for $50. Then i fabricated a hanger to mount to the rear and middle mounting points on the bike with a hole in the middle for the muffler to bolt to. Lastly i trimmed the bottom of the plastic (just the lip that points inward) bout 6 inches. Then I put a small spacer with a narrow washer to push the bottom of the plastic out to clear the muffler with trimming upwards.
It changed the characteristics of the bike to where i doesn't lurch when i am on/off the clutch, making it very smooth and the noise factor is perfect with the s/a in. Now with the s/a out it is in my opinion louder the the powercore that my friend has on his 250. Between the looks and the noise this is the exact muffler i was looking for to top this bike off while still having a stock exhaust for my 351
